Louis King, Hartley Wintney's First Team manager, has revealed that he's to step down from the position.
In his programme notes ahead of the last game of the season on the 1st May, against local rivals Eversley, Louis wrote:
"I'm not 100% sure yet what is going to happen next season in terms of management, but I do know I won't be the "special one" anymore. It's no secret that I would like to step down and leave the team in the hands of someone more capable than myself. I think I have assembled a good bunch of lads that want to play for the club and be part of taking it "to the next level". I think next season, if we have 4-5 more committed players and a little bit more discipline, we will definitely bring some silverware to the club. Whatever happens, though, I will definitely still be part of Hartley Wintney football club in some way."
Louis King joined the club as assistant to previous manager Peter Gray, and took on the role of First Team manager half way through the season when Peter left for personal reasons. He has been assisted in the dugout by Mick Wollen and Paul Dale, and recently also by Neville Roach, who was ruled out from playing the latter part of the season by a nasty injury.
We understand that a number of candidates for the job of First Team manager have already signalled their interest. The club will make an announcement in due course.
