First team captain, Jack Smillie, has turned down an approach from Southern League Division One side Thatcham Town.

Jack Smillie has turned down an approach from Southern League Division One side Thatcham Town, prefering to stay at Hartley Wintney. It's great news for the club and shows the spirit and togetherness that has grown within the squad this season. It also says a great deal about Jack's own personal commitment to Hartley and his team mates, turning down a financial incentive, prefering to continue to lead the team hopefully towards promotion this season in the Combined Counties League.
Delighted on hearing Jack's decision, Manager Neville Roach told the club's website,
"It's not just good news, it's great news. Jack was offered a good deal but he is happy the way things are going here and is very happy to stay. The most important thing for Jack is that the club is moving in the right direction and he is enjoying his football."
Regular supporters have all seen Jack's influence in the centre of midfield this season, as well as his qualities as captain of the side. I'm sure all supporters, club members and officials would join in thanking Jack for showing such commitment to Hartley Wintney Football Club.
