Founder members of Home Counties League (formed from the Surrey Senior League), renamed Combined Counties League in 1979-80

Hartley Wintney Football Club was founded in 1897 and played in an area situated at Causeway Farm, not far from our present ground. The village side competed well against local opposition, this despite the facilities not being of today’s standard, with only a horse trough or the pond to remove the heavy mud from a sub-standard pitch!

In 1953, the club moved to 'The Memorial Ground' and a pavilion was erected. The facilities were once again improved in 1975, when a bar was built within the pavilion. The playing strength had also been improved by this time, after Glynn Howell had been appointed Manager in 1973. In his six year reign, the team managed to win the Aldershot Senior League three times in succession and the Aldershot Senior Cup.

Hartley Wintney later joined the Combined Counties League. After the appointment of manager Ian Bedford, the club once more hit a rich vein of success. Within his three years in management, they gained the League Title (1982-1983) and Runners Up (1981-1982), Aldershot Senior Cup Winners (1980-1981), George Allen Cup Winners (1981-1982), and were League Cup and Aldershot Senior Cup Runners Up (1982-1983 and 1981-1982 respectively).

In recent years, the club has invested in new floodlights and rebuilt both its clubhouse and changing rooms, as well as having a modern stand with seating erected.

Neville Roach is the club's current First Team manager, with his Assistant Mick Wollen and coach Scott Tarr, and the senior side plays in Combined Counties League Division One at step 6 of the English football pyramid.
